YAM EBENEZER |About Ministry after University Life

YAM Ebenezer is a fellowship under Youth Aflame Ministries which mainly involves christians from corporate circles which emerged after the First Flames (YAM Members) left University to start life in the corporate world which involves different challenges. They realised that they needed to continue with their usual fellowship as brothers and sisters in order to tackle and continue the walk as overcomers thus Ebenezer was born to keep the fire burning.

YAM-Ebenezer has been there since 2007 and started operations in 2008 under the leadership of Mr. Alex Muhwezi and his committee who passed on the mantle to Mr. Frankline Mucunguzi in 2009 until 2010 when they entrusted it to the current leadership headed by Mr. Agaba Myres Muganga.

The meeting/fellowship places have also evolved from Makerere University Guest house to Kyambogo peace park to Golden fish restaurant to Nakawa which is the current location for Sunday fellowships that start at 4:00pm while our mid-week fellowship take place at All Saints Church Nakasero every Thursday 5:30 pm.

Some of the pioneer members are Muhwezi Alex, sserukera Peter, Abaasa Dorah, Nabuzaare Caroline, Tusiime Julian, Atukwasa Ritah, Nabakooza Lydia, Abia Brenda among others. These men and women of God used to have overnights every Saturday in Ntinda at Sserukera Peter's place.

  • Evangelism in communities and sometimes with campuses:
  • We emphasize evangelism around Nakawa where we do door to door and sometimes we partner with Campuses to do door to door ministry within and around universities. This and other evangelism related activities are mainly organized by university branches and we just come in to boost. Members have always been encouraged to be part of missions in and out of the country.

  • Members in reach:
  • We found it necessary to visit members of Yam Ebenezer in their home and have fellowship there. This has increased trust the family members of our Members had in YAM. We are willing to visit all who welcome us in their homes. We usually have a power packed Lock-ins that are decorated with prayer, word, testimonies and of course breaking of bread plus sharing food. There has been also encouragement to support Flames who are getting married and it stills goes on.

  • Prayer:
  • We have prayer meetings and retreats as per the program of the ministry through our prayer Secretary.

  • Bible study:
  • During our fellowships, we have bible studies through the help of guides.

  • Campus ministry:
  • In conjunction with papas & mamas plus various secretaries, we have had joint ministries with Campuses. This has been mainly evangelism, school ministry, conferences and missions. Effective partnership has been with Kyambogo, Makerere and MUST branches and we are yet to effect the Impact with Mukono, Gulu, MUBS and Bishop Stuart University.

  • General Fellowship:
  • We always have fellowships on Sunday starting 4:00pm at Nakawa. We've had to juggle a lot to find the most convenient place and time/day when to hold our fellowships until we settled for the above mentioned and lately Thursday fellowships.

Special Word to the Leaders & Ministers

  • You are encouraged to be like a donkey that carried Jesus to Jerusalem. Because it carried the king, it was able to walk on a clean place i.e clothes, palm leaves
  • Luke 9:59-62
  • "And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God".
